Terms and Conditions
CROWN — Capacity Building and Resilience Open Web-based Network
Effective Date: 13 June 2026
Last Updated: 11 July 2026
1. Introduction and Acceptance
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the CROWN platform, available at crown.a2r-af.com (the “Platform”), operated by Areta Aramak Research Services Organization (“Areta Aramak,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). CROWN provides free online public health, epidemiology, and related capacity-building courses primarily intended for learners in Afghanistan and other low- and middle-income country (LMIC) settings.
By creating an account, enrolling in a course, or otherwise using the Platform, you (“User,” “learner,” or “you”) agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2. Eligibility
2.1. The Platform is intended for use by individuals aged 16 years and older. By registering an account, you confirm that you meet this minimum age requirement.
2.2. If you are accessing the Platform on behalf of an institution, organization, or employer, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
3. Account Registration
3.1. To access course content, track progress, or receive certificates, you must register for an account and provide accurate, current, and complete information.
3.2. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at info@crown.a2r-af.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
3.3. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain inaccurate information, violate these Terms, or remain inactive for an extended period, at our discretion.
4. Course Access and Content
4.1. Free of Charge. All courses currently offered on the Platform are provided free of charge (as of July 2026). We do not currently process payments through the Platform. Should paid content be introduced in the future, these Terms will be updated accordingly and users will be notified in advance.
4.2. Educational Purpose Only. Course content is developed for educational and capacity-building purposes in public health, epidemiology, and related fields. Content does not constitute professional medical advice, clinical guidance, or a substitute for consultation with qualified health authorities or practitioners. CROWN and Areta Aramak assume no responsibility for decisions made based on course content.
4.3. No Guarantee of Availability. We aim to maintain consistent access to course materials but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Courses may be modified, updated, suspended, or discontinued at our discretion, including due to funding, partnership, or content-review considerations.
4.4. Certificates. Certificates of completion may be issued upon satisfying a course’s stated completion criteria. Certificates reflect completion of CROWN course content only and do not, unless explicitly stated on the certificate itself, constitute a professional accreditation, license, continuing education credit, or degree-equivalent qualification. Verification of a certificate’s authenticity may be requested through given contact channels.
5. Intellectual Property
5.1. All course materials, text, graphics, logos, video, audio, assessments, and other content on the Platform (“Content”) are owned by Areta Aramak, CROWN, or its licensors and partners, and are protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws, unless otherwise indicated.
5.2. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use Content for personal, non-commercial, educational purposes only.
5.3. You may not reproduce, redistribute, sell, publicly display, modify, or create derivative works from Content without prior written permission from Areta Aramak, except where Content is explicitly marked as openly licensed (e.g., under a Creative Commons license), in which case the stated license terms apply.
5.4. Where third-party content, data, or references (e.g., WHO guidance, published research) are incorporated into courses, such material remains the property of its respective owners and is used in accordance with applicable permissions or fair-use provisions.
6. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Share account credentials or allow unauthorized individuals to access the Platform through your account;
- Misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or affiliation;
- Engage in academic dishonesty, including plagiarism or misrepresenting assessment work as your own;
- Upload or transmit any content that is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, or infringes on the rights of others;
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Platform, its servers, or related systems;
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access or extract Platform content without prior written consent.
Violation of this section may result in suspension or termination of your account.
7. Third-Party Links and Partner Content
The Platform may reference or link to third-party resources, including materials from the international entities and/or academic partners. Areta Aramak does not control and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of external websites or resources. Inclusion of such links does not imply endorsement.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform and its Content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Areta Aramak disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement of Content.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Areta Aramak, CROWN, and their staff, contributors, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Platform, including reliance on course content for professional or clinical decision-making.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms, misuse of the Platform, or extended inactivity. You may also discontinue use of the Platform and request account deletion at any time by contacting us.
11. Modifications to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Platform, applicable law, or operational practices. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use of the Platform following changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
