Built in the field, not in a boardroom.
CROWN began as an answer to a simple problem: most public health training available to Afghanistan’s health workforce was either inaccessible, out of date, or written for a clinical context nobody here actually works in.
— Our Story
A curriculum shaped by outbreak response, not a template
CROWN grew out of years spent running field epidemiology training, AMR surveillance and outbreak response across Afghan provinces. Trainers kept hitting the same wall: strong candidates, thin infrastructure, and course materials that assumed reliable electricity, fast internet and a clinical setting none of the learners actually had.
So CROWN was built the other way around — short modules that load on a slow connection, case studies drawn from real surveillance work instead of textbook scenarios, and a curriculum shaped by people who have actually run a field epidemiology training cohort.
The result is a single, open web-based platform where a nurse in a provincial hospital, a medical student in Kabul, and a faculty member preparing a lecture can all find something built for the work they’re actually doing.
